The school is situated in Sutton Village and serves a growing rural residential area of over 360 square kilometres. Most students live on small land holdings of six to fifteen hectares and travel to school by bus or car. While some families engage in rural production, most parents work in Canberra or Queanbeyan. Sutton Public School's mission is to provide education for excellence by fostering the caring environment through which the realisation of each student's potential in the physical, intellectual, social, emotional and spiritual dimensions is promoted.
